Questions to Ask Ourselves

God provides us with counsel--what will we do with it?

1 Peter 3: 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

1 Tim 2: 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Questions women should ask regarding their appearance

Am I inwardly adorned with a meek and quiet spirit, which is the product of a converted heart?

Am I willing to dress to please Jesus, and not myself or others?

Am I willing to put self aside, so that the glory of God alone may shine through me?

Am I willing to listen to and obey inspired counsel regarding God's will for me in all things, including my appearance?

Am I willing to dress in such a way that I will not cause my brother to stumble?

Am I a godly example, safe for my sisters to follow?

Am I willing to dress modestly?

Am I willing to avoid jewelry, and flashy, extravagant or showy apparel and accessories?

Am I willing to avoid artificial color and elaborate procedures on my hair?

Am I willing to avoid unnatural designs and colors on my nails.

Do I feel confident that my appearance is pleasing to God, and will be productive in drawing others to serve Him?

Am I truly dead to self, vanity and pride?

Am I willing to follow God's principle, and oppose fashion's demands?
